Long Winter

Ingredients

  • 1½ oz VIDO Vodka
  • 1 oz fresh lemon
  • ½ oz spiced cranberry syrup
  • ¼ oz Dry curaçao
  • 2 dashes of absinthe
  • Top with champagne

Spiced Cranberry Syrup

  1. In a pan on the stove, add 1 cup sugar, 1 cup water, 1 cup whole cranberries and heat on low.
  2. Gently stir until all the sugar is dissolved.
  3. Then add whatever spices you’d like– I went with 4-5 cinnamon sticks, a few star anise, some crushed allspice and a few pieces of fresh ginger.
  4. Lightly simmer until most of the cranberries have “popped.”
  5. Once cooled, strain out the solid and store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

Preparation

  1. Combine all ingredients (except for Champagne) in a cocktail shaker and shake with ice.
  2. Strain into a Collins glass over fresh ice.
  3. Top with Champagne.
  4. Garnish with a lemon twist and skewered cranberries.
